Just wanted to let you know we were sucked into almost the exact same scam in Pattaya Thailand a few years ago. We supposedly won a $500 cash voucher, and the ticket seller was ecstatic because she too would receive a bonus.

 

Anyway we were wisked away in a taxi to another beach where we were placed in a hard sell by a pair of very slick Australians, who at the end of every page of the sell, would ask something like "wouldn't you like to stay in a resort like this?" At the end of the 1.5 hour presentation, we were asked to outlay $30,000. When we said no, they got visibly angry and said, "but you agreed you liked the offer?". We told the sellers that we didn't have that kind of money and he actually said "how much do you have?". By then I was annoyed, hot and impatient and we left, and they weren't happy at all.

 

And we had to find our own back to our beach.

 

Thank goodness I wasn't scammed, but while we were there someone did sign up and all the presenters clapped. All in all it was an annoying waste of a few hours of my time, but it could've been so much worse.
