Oh come on Tony!
Average Balinese earn around $500US per year, of course the guy on the footpath was excited.
It is obvious there were 3 options and the letter under the star will tell you which one you get. Common scratchy for cash card is the same where ever you live.
Where have you been the last 20 years, this technique is used all over the world, it works on curiosity to have a look.
Where did you not have a chance to say NO? Never, you walked away and had a freedom of choice.
We have been approached many times in Australia over 15 years with similar methods mostly in Queensland. We said no to all of them as we had been in time share 20 years ago. Never lost any money and it made us think about taking holidays instead of business, business, business.
We looked at Royal while in Bali last year. Liked what we saw as it is a top product. The weeks are in high demand by people all over the world, the resorts are better than those we stayed at in Australia over a 12 year period. The sales staff were courteous and precise in their answers. We also saw the Karma resorts after the session and they are sensational. Better than the best hotels we have stayed at in Sydney ie The Novatel, The Menzies etc. They gave us a free day and massage and meal at the Karma resort. Had a fantastic day. Bought a week in one of the resorts got a ‘free’ week thrown in as a sweetener and booked both with the booking people for next year. A $100 booking fee, come on this is a $2,000US week holiday and you can’t pay a booking fee?
Me thinks you are a little too pissed off for something that we see as very clear and a little harsh on a company that from our point of view has a fantastic product. Climb down off your soap box.
We will watch you website but bet you haven’t got the guts to post this message with the others.

A note from the web site creator, me.
Chris and Trudy are absolutely right that I had a choice to walk away and a nagging feeling inside of me said I should, but when the balinese guy told me he'd get a bonus for bring us along and knowing that they survive on so little, I felt I should do it partially for him. Also I was being greedy as he specifically told me I could choose my prize and I really wanted the $500 US.
I was naive and trusting and made a decision based on bad/misleading/dishonest information. My feeling is though that the right thing to do would have been for the representative to be honest with me but Chris and Trudy are absolutely right that people all over the world are at times dishonest.
I've said many times that I do love Bali and would happily go back again and encourage others to go too. It's not just a balinese situation, It's only that I experienced it there and not in Australia or in some other place.
Just because people have bad thing happen to them all over the world doesn't mean you can't get pissed off when something bad happens to you.
I appreciate Chris and Trudy writing and contributing and adding their point of view, it helped me remember that it's not the end of the world to lose a bit of time or money. I will certainly "have the guts" to put every single email I get here as long as it's not obscene or just dumb. If anyone else has a really positive experience of this Time Share scheme and thinks the way they market is honest and professional, then please let me know. I'm also trusting that Chris and Trudy are not affiliated with the company in question. As they say, misleading people come from Australia too.
